How to Brew - AeroPress

12 October, 2021 2 min read

We love brewing in this humble, compact little contraption. The AeroPress is simple to use, easy to clean, and brews a straight up delicious coffee time and time again. You can brew with many different recipes, but we love the inverted method. It is simple and works well every time.

Bring your filtered water to the boil. We like to season the AeroPress and the chamber with some hot water first. Swirl the hot water around, then empty the water out in preparation for your ground coffee.

Turn the AeroPress upside down and pull the AeroPress chamber up to the 4 mark on the main chamber. Unscrew the filter holder, and insert the filter paper, wetting it to remove any paper flavours.

Your freshly ground coffee should be finer than a plunger setting but coarser than stovetop – we recommend using paper filter. Pour the ground coffee into the bottom of the AeroPress.

Top Tip 1
For a stronger brew, try making your grind a bit finer, or increase your brew time. Jasper offer a grind specifically for  AeroPress. Simply select your favourite coffee, then check AeroPress in grind options.

Add 200g of boiling water to the AeroPress to saturate the coffee grinds and start your timer. Leave the coffee rest for thirty seconds until it forms a crust. Stir to ensure all coffee is mixed. Leave rest for a further minute. Meanwhile screw on the plastic lid with paper filter inserted.

Top Tip 2
If you’re finding it hard to plunge, try making your grind coarser, or decreasing the amount of coffee

Gently turn the AeroPress around, until it is sitting over your favourite mug. Slowly push the plunger down until the coffee brew is completely pushed through the filter. And voila – fresh brewed coffee!

 Top Tip 3

To clean AeroPress, simply pull apart and rinse with hot water. Grounds and the paper filter can be composted.
